20 Questions to Ask Your Kids Each Year

I saw this great idea of asking your kids the same 20 questions each year to keep track of some of their favorite things as well as seeing how their answers change over the year. Brayden's birthday isn't for awhile, but I wanted to get his answers as a 3-year-old.  I love that I have these memories of him recorded now.  These were his exact responses...
  1. What is your favorite color? Red
  2.  What is your favorite toy? Cars and Music Stuff...Jingle Bells
  3. What is your favorite fruit? Banana
  4. What is your favorite TV show? Dinosaur Train
  5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Peanut Butter & Jelly or Honey
  6. What is your favorite outfit? My Spiderman Outfit
  7. What is your favorite game? Sports
  8. What is your favorite snack? Caramel Rice Cakes...Under the chips in the pantry
  9. What is your favorite animal? Hippopotamus
  10. What is your favorite song? “Trust and Obey” & “Holy” (“Holy, Holy, Holy”)
  11. What is your favorite book? Toy Story book w/ character mat & characters...from Lowe’s
  12. Who is your best friend? Christopher (at Preschool)
  13. What is your favorite sport? With Daddy...football
  14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Playing with the Spiderman web & water thing

Growing Up

Well, we finally did it!  We took the rail off my "baby's" crib!  I know some might say we should have done it awhile ago, but I was holding out as long as possible!  He stayed in his crib, so I was perfectly content with containment!  But, nonetheless, it was time.

We took the front rail off his crib, since it's a convertible bed.  Once it was off, I realized, "Uh, I don't have toddler-sized sheets or blankets!"  So, improvising happened.  I pulled out our old OBU blanket and popped it on top of his crib sheets for the time being.  It will work!  He's been loving his "new, big boy bed."

The first couple days, he jumped in bed and didn't budge 'til naptime was up.  Lately, he's been realizing the freedom that this no-rail bed has going on.  A couple days ago, I walked in to him wearing a hat, no shirt, a tie, and his Elmo slippers.  Trying to stay composed while trying to get him to nap, I busted out laughing.  Creativity, I tell you.  Love it.

The last couple days, he's been very creative in his naptime endeavors.  He's been known to be found rocking away in his rocking chair, nightlight on, and reading books...sneaky!  My favorite so far though has been when I walked in on him sound asleep.  He was propped up on his giant Panda stuffed animal and rockin' his train conductors hat.  Oh, and when I pulled back the covers...you better believe he was wearing his Elmo slippers too.
 Precious.

An Official Walker!

We have an official walker! Since 13 1/2 months, Brayden has been trying to get the walking thing perfected. Well, he has mastered the skill! He loves to walk from room to room now, and it's so fun watching him! (He still crawls faster than he walks, so life hasn't changed all that much.) He walks with his hands high in the air to keep his balance. I love my little toddler!

All I Want is My Two Front Teeth

The long-awaited top tooth has finally broken through! That may sound trivial, but the doc told us 6 MONTHS AGO that his top teeth should all four be coming thru "any time." Ha! I think it's a total guessing game for the doctors, because we went in a couple months ago for what I thought was an ear infection. The doctor said, "Nope, just teething." Well, no teeth came in; Brayden has had two bottom teeth since he was 6 months old...and nothing else. So, just this past week, one of his top teeth broke through - after a rough and evident bout of teething the previous two days. We now see two more top ones coming in close behind this one. So, finally, at a year old, our little guy will soon have his two front teeth!

Mother's Day

It was my first Mother's Day...officially. Last year, I was 8 months pregnant and claimed the "mother" status, but this year, I woke up so proud that I am now a Mom of the best little guy - Brayden. Jonathan was so great all day and treated me like a queen! It was so wonderful! I received my first official piece of artwork made by Brayden - his handprints - which I couldn't believe were as big as they were! He is growing up so fast. He turned 10 months on the 11th. Time is FLYING!

It is so wonderful being a mother - exhausting at times, sure - but it is something that is beyond description and greater than I could have imagined. Being a mom makes me even more thankful for my Mom. I never knew how many hours were put into laundry or how much love was put into each book read or how much prayer was spoken on my behalf - but now that I am a Mom, I feel and understand a new kind of love that I never grasped. It is a love that I am sure I am only grasping at the strings of how great it truly is. It is a Love that is given to me by my Heavenly Parent - God my Father. It is one that I pray that I can model and give to Brayden so that he will know the Love of the Father that was also given for him.

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"

Brayden's 1st Haircut

Although Brayden still isn't growing hair on the sides of his head, the top was getting super long. So last night, I cut his hair. He was so great through it...he sat reasonably still for an 8 month old. He looks so cute now with it all trimmed up!

Two Teeth!

Brayden has TWO teeth now! Just a short week after the first bottom one came in, the other bottom tooth followed suit!

I took this picture while we were at the mall shopping.
We just had to try on this adorable hat!

First Tooth

8 months old and Brayden has his first tooth! It came through this past weekend, and through the days surrounding, Baby Orajel has become our best friend! He seems to love his new tooth, because he constantly sticks out his tongue so he can feel it...it's pretty funny!

Pulling Up

This week has been unreal! Brayden is learning new 'skills' everyday! I set him in his crib to play with some toys, and the next thing I know, he is pulling himself up on his knees. He was having a blast too. He is loving this new world of mobility!

Officially on the Move!

Today, Brayden was sitting in his crib playing, and the next thing I know, he's moved over to pulling up on the bumpers! Agghhh!!! No way! My little boy is on the move! He did this several times...I would sit him up, then he would roll over and push himself up on the side of his crib. I whipped out my phone to capture this 'moment.' (It's not the greatest pic, but I had to catch him on the move!)

Growing Up

When this first picture was taken of Brayden, someone said, "Just wait until his head is up to the parrot in this bouncer!"  I thought, "No way!  That will be FOREVER!"  Well, that day has come - sooner than I thought - and he has grown up PAST the parrot in his bouncy seat.

Watch the growth...
1-week old
and SO tiny!
1 month old
Check out those long legs!
1 1/2 months old
3 months old
WOAH!  Haha!!!
Falling off his bouncer...whew, I caught him!
4-months old
wearing Daddy's hat
6-months old
and growing out of his bouncy seat!

6-month Trip to the Doc

It's hard to believe our little guy is 6-months already...half a year...WOW! It has really flown by! We headed to the doctor for our 6-month well-visit, and everything went great. Unfortunately, Brayden had to get 4 more shots, which he wasn't too happy about! Overall, he did great afterwards.

Here's his 6-month 'stats' -
19.5 lbs. - 76th percentile
28 inches - 90th percentile

What a handsome and healthy little boy!
