Baby Bible Presentation

Today was Brayden's "Baby Bible Presentation" in church.  It was a special time where he was given his first Bible and one of our pastors, Dave Riggle, prayed over us as a family.  As his name was read to the church, all of our high school students sat in the front of the Worship Center and yelled and clapped for our little guy...we love our students!

Brayden did great on stage (except for his pre-service spit up all down his clothes and my dress...of course it would happen 5 minutes before the service started!  ha!)...but other than that, he proved to be a natural on stage.

Time for Shots!

There is something that no one looks forward to...SHOTS!  If you are a person who enjoys shots, there is something wrong...no one enjoys shots!  Today was the day...it was time for Brayden's 2 month shots.  He went in with a smile...and surprisingly, came out with a smile!  Don't get me wrong, he didn't enjoy them, but he did really good!  He cried just a little when he got them.  He proudly wore Wiley Coyote & Daffy Duck (his bandaids) to show his bravery.

He weighed in at 12 lbs. 10.5 oz (75th percentile) and was 25 1/2 inches long (95th percentile).  It appears that he will be just like his Daddy!  I'm excited about that...I enjoy my 2 tall handsome guys!  hehe

Brayden has also started talking and drooling a lot...you'll see by his "tongue" picture below.  He cracks me up how he just sticks it out all the time, blowing bubbles and talking up a storm. So fun...and how thankful I am to have a happy, healthy baby boy!

Tummy Time

Brayden is starting to really enjoy "tummy time."  He is getting so strong and will hold his head up for a really long time.  This time, he was just chillin' on his Boppy, looking around and so happy.

Hurricane IKE!

Well, we're back home again.  I am so thankful that everything was okay back home...with our puppy Shiloh and with our house.  Our community took a big hit though...lots of damage throughout Kingwood, Houston, and Galveston.  You can see some pics on Jonathan's blog.  Kingwood still is mostly without power, and schools don't start back until this Thursday. (They have missed a week and a half!  I'm sure the students are loving it though!)  Keep praying for the families that have lost much from this hurricane.  It definitely reminds me though that material things will fade...but the relationship that we have with God lasts forever!

Our "bent" tree...not too bad!

Trip to Oklahoma

This past weekend, we headed to Oklahoma for a short visit for Nanny's birthday.  We ended up staying for a bit longer, because of Hurricane Ike.  Jonathan headed back to Houston on Tuesday to check on the house and take care of Shiloh, while Brayden and I stayed back for a couple more days.  We, then, headed back Thursday afternoon to be with Daddy.  Our house, luckily, didn't have any damage (minus a "bent" tree in the front yard), and we were surprised on Friday morning to have power!  (Our power company said we weren't going to get power until around October 5th!!!)  We had an amazing time with family and friends on our visit, and we are so thankful to be home safe and with power!!!

Brayden got his "wings" on his first flight!
He did SO good...slept almost the entire time!

This is now one of my favorite pics of Brayden.  My mom was giving him a bath and put him in this adorable towel!  He was so cute in it but quite overwhelmed because of how swamped he was in it!

Smile buddy!

What is that look?!

Brayden saying "bye" to Daddy before he
headed back to Houston.  Quite the moment!

We took a walk on a beautiful day in Oklahoma.
He wore my mom's hat to keep the sun out of his eyes.

A pic from Aunt Amy's phone.

We went to tea with the girls (and Brayden)

Nanny's 80th Birthday

This weekend, we got to head to Oklahoma for Nanny's 80th Birthday.  (Escaping Hurricane Ike was also a plus!)  It was such a special time to honor Nanny and all that she has meant to us.  It was also so great for Brayden to finally meet Nanny & Papa; he loved getting to meet his great-grandparents.

Bathtime

Brayden is now taking "real" baths...he tends to enjoy them most of the time.  Sometime he gets this distressed look on his face when the warm water hits his body.  It's pretty funny!  But, typically, he likes lounging in the comfy hammock-like seat of his bath.

My Birthday

This year for my birthday, we packed picnic dinners and went to a place called Miller Outdoor Theater.  It was such a cool place!  We sat on the lawn and watched the play Sleeping Beauty...actually it was a ballet...sorry, guys, we didn't know!  hehe  :) But we had a great time, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

Funny Guy

Brayden has recently discovered sticking out his tongue.  It is hilarious!  Yesterday, Jonathan was holding Brayden.  Brayden stuck out his tongue, so Jonathan did it back.  Brayden smiled really big...and for the next minute or so, they went back and forth sticking out their tongues.  It was SO funny!  This is a pic I snapped of Brayden
and his new discovery.

Jonathan's Birthday

For Jonathan's birthday this year, we invited all of our friends out to eat at Chili's - one of our favorite places!  Then we headed back to our house for cake...and a surprise!  Our friends and family all pitched in to surprise Jonathan with a brand new grill.  He was so excited and surprised!  Thanks to all who helped to give this awesome gift to Jonathan.

Here is Jonathan with his new grill.

Brayden thoroughly enjoyed the evening...ha!

I can't wait until he starts to laugh too!!!

I just love it when Brayden cuddles up to us like this!

Baby Things Galore!

I've noticed lately how our house has become overrun with baby things.  It's quite humorous when I look in our kitchen, and the countertops are covered with things like a spinning bottle drying rack and a bottle warmer.  Our living room consists of our couch, TV...and now a baby swing, baby bouncer, playmat(s), toys, and many spare pacifiers that I am constantly finding in the couch cushions along with random miniature socks that are found all over the house, car, and even in my pockets!  My purse has been traded in for a diaper bag (which is actually quite stylish thanks to Erin & Jared!).

It's a fun time.  All the things that I would typically pick up and put away before guests arrive are displayed proudly for all to see.  I am so thankful for those baby things, because it represents that there is a baby here.  I love to hear Brayden's baby coos that he is starting to mumble so often now as he sits in his baby swing watching the bears spin on the mobile above his head.  I love laughing as I walk back into the living room only to spot a pacifier that has somehow been spit out of Brayden's mouth some 4 or 5 feet away from him...amazing!  I love discovering those tiny socks in random places (only to wonder...where is the other one?!).  It is a wonderful time!  It's one that God reminds me to cherish every single day.  I love those baby things...and I love my precious baby.

has taken over the kitchen counter.
