Googly Eyes

I found this really cool project in Parents magazine and had to try it with Brayden. I had put it in my craft binder awhile ago, and I finally remembered to save an egg carton to use in the project.

All you need is a cardboard egg carton, craft paint, paint brush, & pipe cleaners.

First, cut the egg carton apart keeping 2 sections together for the googly eyes. Then cut out a hole in the center of it to look through. Also, using a hole punch, punch a hole in the sides to thread the pipe cleaners through for the glasses.

Paint the bottoms to decorate your 'glasses.'

Once the paint dries, thread your pipe cleaners through and twist off to make glasses. Perfecto!

It's SUMMERTIME! One thing that is so awesome about summer is that we have lots of fun things going on in Student Ministry! We kicked off the summer with a cookout and swimming with all of our Youth Staff.

Swimming Away

Our little guy has become quite the fish in the water. He loves swim lessons and Mrs. Dawn. He totally didn't dig the goggles the first couple lessons, but this last one, he actually kept them on! Woohoo! It's pretty amazing how he's figuring out how to lay his ear in the water/breathe, then he blows bubbles while doing his 'reach and pull.' I think we're going to live at the pool this summer!

DIY Yarn Covered Letter

For our guest room that my sister, Amy, is living in this summer, I wanted to make some personal artwork for above her bed. I cut out a piece of cardboard from a regular cardboard box in the shape of an "A" and wrapped it in bright pink yarn. After tons of wrapping, I probably wrapped it completely three times when it was all done to make it nice and thick.

I had an old frame that I found at Habitat for Humanity's ReStore

and spray painted it white for the "A" to go in.

I hung the frame and simply nailed the "A" onto the wall through

the yarn and fluffed the yarn over the top of the nail to hide it.

I love how it turned out!

Guest Bedroom Re-do

This summer, my sister Amy is living with us and working at our church as a Children's Ministry Intern. Our guest bedroom/office had been my hubby's domain to decorate...it was his one room to put all his baseball memorabilia in. However, since Amy would be living in that room, I wanted to make it a little more girly. So a super budget-friendly re-do was a must.

I covered IKEA magnetic boards with fabric.

I just used spray adhesive to attach the fabric

and wrapped it around the edges. Super easy!

A Cute Toothless Grin

Well, I needed a 'blog break.' It's been awhile since I've posted on my blog, and I think it was a good break. We had a rough week a couple weeks ago. I didn't really feel like posting it to the world right after it happened, but Brayden (and me) are doing just fine now. Brayden slipped in our kitchen and hit his mouth on the tile. It knocked his 2 front teeth way back, and the dentist had to pull them out. He was such a trooper and didn't cry the whole time...amazing! Me on the other hand...I was a basketcase! It was my little baby, and this was our first 'emergency' to deal with. I was just so sad his little teeth weren't going to be there anymore.

I know in the grand scheme of things, it just isn't that big of deal. I truly believe God protected him from a more serious injury...it could have been so much worse. But it was still hard. We were blessed with finding a great pediatric dentist to take him to; she was amazing with him. Brayden is doing so great though, and we're so thankful that we can trust God through times like this!
